Are you going to fast something for Lent?

Lent starts on Wednesday, yes Valentine’s day, and in my experience it is well worth the effort.

As most of you know, I fasted from internet usage on my phone last Lent. Which to some, might seem like a joke. Consider this though, where I would have normally pulled out my phone for directions, I couldn’t, and in that

moment I remembered why I was doing what I was doing, and that Easter was coming. The same was true when I wanted to check Facebook on the go, or chat to someone on messenger, or make a bill payment through my bank app, and surf Trademe while in a cue.

By removing something which had slowly taken over my down time, I found myself continually reminded of the season I was in.

I still haven’t decided what I will fast from this Lent. If you haven’t, and are considering it, really think hard about what would cause you to pause, and take in the gravity of Easter.
